Well I went ahead and ordered the Kubota BX23 and it was delivered today. Thanks to a lot of the discussion points in many messages, I feel very comfortable that this orange machine will address my needs. Thanks to all of you.
Now will begin both the fun and the work.

An added comment.
Beyond the normal FEL and the BH, I had the dealer add a teeth bar on the front of the loader and also weld two chain hooks on the top ends of the loader bucket. These will help me with some digging with the FEL and doing chain lifting of certain logs. They were good additions. ....

teamstew, Dealer charged $325 for the tooth bar and did the chain hooks gratis. The hooks are welded on--then painted orange to match the tractor. Haven't yet used the chain hooks, but will soon.
